White Witches (Order)

The White Witches are an ancient sisterhood of spirit-bound mages devoted to balance, healing, and truth. Their power flows from the Element of Spirit, the bridge between mortal essence and divine creation.

They are known for their purity of will, their ability to perceive the unseen, and their service as healers and arbiters across worlds.

Origin

The lineage of the White Witches begins with Nyneve (Nimue), the Lady of the Lake, who first embodied the Element of Spirit through Water. She taught that magic must serve life, never power — and that the wielder of light must carry both compassion and restraint.

Over the ages, her teachings gave rise to the Order, a loose but enduring lineage of women attuned to the harmonics of truth.

Birth and Calling

One does not choose to become a White Witch - one is born as one. The Gift of Spirit manifests at birth, marked by the child’s aura shimmering faintly in moonlight or by the instinctive sensitivity to the emotions and intentions of others.

As long as a potential White Witch does not reject the magic within her - for magic cannot live in the unwilling - she will awaken fully in time. Some spend years learning to channel their Spirit with limited success, while others wield it instinctively without guidance or training.

The young White Witch known as Amy exemplified this second path: born on Earth, she unconsciously used her innate ability known as The Voice to influence the minds of others - sometimes for self-preservation, sometimes for persuasion. When she first encountered Ichigo, her attempt to compel forgetfulness through The Voice failed, for Amy’s soul was already protected by her nascent bond to the True Warlock, even though his Gift was still mostly dormant at the time.

Powers and Abilities

White Witches are attuned to the invisible resonance of Spirit and life. Their sight transcends the physical, perceiving the flows of mana and intention around all beings.

Aura Vision - They can perceive the auras of living beings, revealing physical and magical health, emotional state, and true intent.
Healing Light - Their mana channels the Flame’s reflection into life-restoring energy.
Spirit Reading - They can communicate with echoes of the past and sense disturbances in the weave of mana.
The Voice - A rare manifestation of Spirit allowing influence over the emotions or actions of others through speech alone.
Bond of Purity - A White Witch is literally incapable of bonding to evil. Any attempt to do so causes catastrophic rejection, resulting in excruciating death.

The Bond of Purity

The purity of their mana ensures harmony between Spirit and intention. A forced bond with one whose essence is corrupted or malevolent causes the White Witch’s body and mind to reject the link violently. In ancient times, this cruelty was used by dark mages as entertainment or punishment - binding a White Witch to a corrupted being to witness her suffering and subsequent death. Such acts are considered one of the highest magical crimes in WyrdeHaven.

Role in Society

Because of their incorruptible nature, White Witches are seen as impartial mediators and healers, often sought out to arbitrate disputes where truth itself is in question. Their word carries legal and spiritual weight, for it is said that a White Witch cannot speak falsehood while her aura is clear.^{[note 1]}

They wander freely between courts, temples, and settlements, serving no master but the Balance itself.

The Holy Armour

Once affirmed and considered sufficiently experienced, a White Witch bears a form-fitting arcane suit woven from spirit-thread - a focus for channeling their magic and summoning the Holy Armour.

The Holy Armour only appears for worthy White Witches who are powerful enough to sustain the mana-draw. When invoked, the suit manifests, in luminous phases, the ethereal ceremonial armour of silver light and runic grace from pure mana.

The armour’s form and brilliance are unique to each Witch, reflecting her nature and strength of Spirit.

Notable White Witches

Nyneve (Nimue) - The first White Witch, Lady of the Lake, Ur-Elemental of Water.
Argante le Fay - The former White Witch, mentor to Amy and keeper of Avalon's coven traditions. She is also the one who bonded Ichigo to Bodhbh Dearg - the then-future True Warlock - before his disappearance.
Amy (White Witch) - The newest of the White Witches, an Earth-born discovered by Ichigo. Her bond with Bodhbh Dearg is considered both an act of love and a divine affirmation of his untainted nature.^{[note 2]}

Spiritual Significance

The White Witches are living reflections of the Eternal Flame through the prism of Spirit. They do not command power - they embody it. To see a White Witch’s aura is to glimpse the balance of the worlds themselves, shimmering between mortality and divinity.
